Kreger Class 1

2008 Kreger Fabrication Class 1 / 6200 Race Car
525 HP LS3 • Under 2,800 lbs
SCORE & BITD Legal • Fully Prepped • Race-Ready
Asking: $125,000 — Michael 801-608-1664 (or Joe)
If you want the car that gets to 100 MPH before anything else in the desert, this is it. A genuine Kreger-built car that runs Class 1 / 6200 today—525 HP of sealed Wiks LS3 V8 in a chassis that weighs under 2,800 lbs fueled—and, because it started life as a Class 10, can swap back to Class 10 eligibility with an engine change. Please read the full ad and look through all the photos before calling.
The Short Version
A genuine Kreger car—widely regarded as one of the best-built, lightest, and toughest race cars in the desert. Kreger cars consistently run top-5, often top-3, even though their arnt very many of them out there. This car has earned its keep with wins in both BITD (Best in the Desert) and local Bonneville Off Road (BORE) races over lots of hard campaigning. Freshly prepped with less than 100 miles on the prep, dialed in over thousands of race miles, and ready to load and race.
History
Fabricated by Kreger in 2008, the car sat unraced in the original owner’s garage with only shakedown miles until I bought it in 2015. I raced it as a Class 10 car for five years, then converted it to Class 1 / 6200 in 2020 and that is where it has been since. I’ve put thousands of race miles on this car and know it inside and out—raced in Baja and South west deserts of the US, and the West Desert of Utah, with wins in both BITD and BOR competition along the way.
When I stopped racing it in 2022, I had a major $25,000 prep done, MAJOR, and installed a brand-new engine right before that prep (New engine cost is not part of the last prep cost. The car has sat since. That means both the engine and the car have only about 100 miles on them since the fresh prep—it’s essentially ready to load and race, with all the miles proven behind it.
Worth noting: this gives you two cars in one. It’s set up for Class 1 / 6200 as configured today, and because it started life as a Class 10, an engine swap puts it right back into Class 10 eligibility if you ever want it.
I’ve raced this car in Class 1 / 6200 for years, and it’s one of the most fun cars I’ve ever driven. It weighs in at under 2,800 pounds (with fuel), I have personally verified this weight with a CAT scale. With a Stock 525 HP LS3 and a Mindiola 5-speed sequential clutched tranny, I promise nothing gets to 100 MPH faster than this little car. Nothing! It’s a total giggle factory. And it isn’t just light—it’s Kreger tough and planted solid, with a top speed of 140 MPH, if you dare. I’m selling it only because I’ve had the rare opportunity to buy only 1 of 2 Full Sized Kreger Class 1 race car, I have let the car sit long enough, and no race car deserves to be benched, she needs to be raced. Her name is Bloody Mary (named after my First Pinewood Derby car that also won the whole show), and she simply needs someone who will take her out on a date every now and then.
Removable Body Panels
The panels come off in about a minute solo, or under 15 seconds with a proficient team—roof hatch, hood with built in lights, sides, and engine panels included. They we very recently stripped, sanded, and resurfaced to a high-gloss blue finish, so they’ll look near-perfect. They’re extremely light; some owners run without them to shed a touch more weight. An extra set of side panels and a bonnet are included (they are white) and have no predrilled zeus holes.

Equipment
Prep — Level 3 Full Prep (100 miles incl. shakedown)
New CVs, Axles, Heims, and bushings; shocks rebuilt; hub bearings replaced/repacked; transmission fully prepped (by Dave Foltz); engine pulled and all fluids replaced; new clutch; wheels aligned; new batterys, nets, and belts; fully washed down. Looks and Drives like a brand new race car.
Chassis & Suspension
Kreger tube frame — SCORE tagged (old Tag, but SCORE legal), BITD & Legacy legal, ready to race. Originally built as a Class 10, converted to Class 1 / 6200; race it in Class 1 now, or swap back to a Class 10 engine and it’s Class 10 eligible again
Kreger trailing arms and A-arms — look brand new, plenty of life left
Kreger hubs (perfect condition) — the only hubs that let you replace an axle without removing the wheel
Full 24″ of travel on all four corners, front and rear
King 3.0 triple-bypass shocks,; King 3.0 springs custom-built for a Kreger
Engine & Drivetrain
Wiks LS3 525 HP sealed engine (Pump Gas)— tuned and tagged by Wiks himself. Installed brand-new right before the last prep, so only ~100 miles on it (just broken in)
If you were to tune this car to run on the normal fuel the spec classes run you would gain a good amount of HP, but I never bothered because this car has such a high HP to weight ratio.
Runs cool by design: deep radiator placed directly in the airflow, a Kreger-fabricated 2-liter reserve coolant system, plus an additional oil cooler in the engine bay
Mindiola sequential 5-speed with the large bell housing—built to handle the extra HP with zero issues. Thousands of race miles, never a transmission problem, shifts smooth as butter (maintained by Daniel Folts)
934 CVs (the big ones), high-quality steel—never broken an axle
Electronics
Kreger custom wiring harness — perfect fit, clean splices and shrink-wrap; Cannon cable plugs at all major terminations (dash, engine, light bar, coms) for fast removal. You can remove the dash and all electronics in minutes with the cannon plugs.
A couple of spare 1-wire alternators included
Fuel System
35-gallon race-legal fuel tank (replaced ~3 years ago for extra capacity; not raced since the last prep a couple years ago). I have stored the car with no fuel for the past few years.
Dual high-grade fuel pumps (A main / B backup), independently dash-controlled
Steel-braided, Teflon-lined fuel lines with aluminum race fittings—easy to service and E-85 ready if you choose to run it
Wheels & Tires
Method custom forged & machined aluminum wheels (modular, great looking)
Comes with 35″ BFG KDR2 tires. Honest note: I actually prefer and run 37″ BFG KDR tires on this car—it performs even better on 37s and, with over 6,000+ race miles, I’ve never had a flat running them. I list it with 35s only because the spare-tire housing won’t fit a 37 without deflating it slightly, and I won’t misrepresent it. I’m happy to sell it with a set of 37″ BFG KDR2 tires if you want them as well. A spare 37 inch tire would fit slightly deflated if wanted, but I have always just ran a 35 inch spare simply because I never got flats.
Aftermarket tire-pressure monitoring system
Steering
Howe steering rack
MOMO suede wheel; 1″ chromoly tie rods, powder-coated to match the arms (never bent one); oversized power-steering reservoir
Spare steering pump and spare tie rod included. Never a steering issue—it’ll pound the roughest terrain one-finger easy
Communications
110-watt Kenwood in-dash radio
PCI Trax intercom (driver/co-pilot) with driver isolate, voice filter, and Bluetooth for tunes
No-ground-plane antenna (12″, custom-cut for this car)
Lighting
Baja Designs amber front lights
Baja Designs built-in hood lights (programmed to flash for pit/mechanical identification)
No light bar included, but the car is set up to take one and I know someone selling one (the original was borrowed, rolled, and toasted)
Safety (race-ready, should pass any tech inspection)
New Parker Pumper and filter
Impact 5-point harness, Mastercraft suspension seats, Mastercraft window netting, sun visor
Race-rated Kevlar fuel cell with anti-spill rollover ball valve
Lowrance touch/split-screen GPS, first aid kit, stop/running/rear amber flashing lights, warning triangles, audible horn
Tons of spare parts—happy to put together a full list for a serious buyer
Onboard Storage
Custom Hostile bag fitted between the frame tubes (tool bag under co-pilot’s feet) — included
Stowed emergency breaker bar
Trailer (included)
24 ft deck-over trailer, custom-built by Big Bubba’s here in Utah to chase this exact car—spare wheel slots and fuel-can storage
This car is dialed, durable, and flat-out fast—ready to win right now. Read through, study the photos, and call with any questions.
