1973 Smokey Special Big Hoss Bronco$250,000.00 OBO
For Sale

SANTA ROSA, CA

First built at Parnelli Jones' shop by fabricators Dick Russell and Smokey Alleman in 1971-1972 as a replacement for Big Oly, it was sold as a roller to Larry Minor who in turn sold it to Stroppe Team-mate Bill Rush. Smokey Alleman completed it for Rush and Danny Shields in 1973 where it won it's first race out, the 1973 Baja 1000. Built to run Modified 4x4 class, it features independent front suspsension using Olds Toronado outer halfshafts connecting a Ford 9" to custom hubs fit into Toronado spindle uprights! Power by a 351W and shifted via 4speed Toploader Ford trans through a single speed transfer case to a coil sprung Ford nodular 9". Original drivetrain throughout and motor and brakes are rebuilt, new clutch, and fuel system. 44G fuel tank. Updated seats and seat belts (originals included). This is almost NORRA ready, and a rare opportunity at a pioneering Ford Bronco with tons of history and long career. Raced by Rush and Shields 1973-1975, and 1975 on with Steve Mizel. Wins in 1973-1976 include 3 Baja 1000s, 2 Baja 500s, Parker, Riverside and more through 1986. As close as you can come to owning Big Oly at a fraction of the cost. Spares included, Fiberglass sides available (I got the molds from Alleman), original Baja trophies, Rush's Score Driver of the year award, photos and more. Serious inquires only.
