RARE time capsule from the 1960's 66 Berry Mini T ready to cruise

The Mini T is located in Yucca Valley Calif. for viewing on the weekends.

This Berry Mini T was built by the Berry Mini T LLC company in Long Beach Calif. as a factory demo car, it is not a home constructed kit.
When it was built by the Berry company they installed the options available at that time.

It was registered in 1968 then driven until 1970.
During the early 1970's it was used as an attention getter at a car dealership on Sepulveda at Roscoe in Van Nuys Calif. for seven years.
This is where it had the Ford script and motor meter installed.

The Black and Yellow plate is still mounted on it for the car shows under the current plate with a quick release for car shows.

It was sold and registered in June of 1977, then used for the summer of 77 and then put into storage where it sat for the next 46 years until being rolled out into the daylight in Sept of 2023.

The 1966 VW type 1 pan has been shortened to an 80in wheelbase, it has stock linkpin front suspension and swing axle rear suspension.
The drivetrain is a stock VW 1300cc flat four engine. It retains the original 6 volt electrical system along with 30 Pict Carb and Vacuum advance distributor.
Except for the zoomer dune buggy exhaust.

The 1300cc VW engine is known for its durability and long engine life, regularly lasting well over 100k miles with regular maintenance ( oil changed and valves adjusted every 3k miles) before needing a rebuild.
The cylinder walls on the 1300cc are the thickest ever made by VW with a thickness of 8.4 mm.

For 1966 VW engineers made modifications to increase the power.

The engine makes more power than the Porsche 356 1300cc
Type 506/2, 44 bhp at 4200rpm 60 lb-ft at 3800 rpm 6.5:1 compression, two Solex 32 PBI carburetors. 1647 lbs

With a weight of about 1200 lbs (400lbs less that the 356) the 50hp 1300cc flat four engine is peppy, it will cruise at 65 mph no problem.

When it was pulled out of 46 years of slumber sitting covered up in a garage in the California foothill of the Sierras she was given a complete service to make her ready for fun.

A new battery has been installed, brakes have been redone, new tires, nos voltage regulator. a new F&S clutch kit in it as the input shaft bearing was dragging on the input shaft bearing due to the grease drying out. I lubed the clutch and throttle tubes and the starter bushing, changed the trans lube, engine oil, cleaned carb,adjusted the valves and set the timing. g

She is ready to hit the roads. We have driven it over 800 miles since it has come out of storage.
We did several 120 plus mile drives. She is road ready for a fun summer cruising.

It has current Arizona registration and the title states 1966 VW so no problems insuring.

WARNING The Berry Mini T gets plenty of attention, every time you stop and get out someone will be asking questions and want to take a photo.
While driving you get thumbs up and kids with big smiles and get more attention than if you were driving a Ferrari with your hair on fire.
This car is a blast to drive, you just smile the whole time because it is just so much fun.

One question I am always asked is how long did it take to restore.
I answer that I didn't restore it just like it was found in storage and I get the wonderment look.
They can't believe it had sat for that long and is in such good condition.

That said the top was painted with tire black in the early 70's and it is peeling off. The top fabric material is in excellent condition.
I did not try to remove it as it is self removing.

She has some very minor surface rust on the floor pans, I did not paint it as I wanted to keep it as found for the next owner.

Driver Side front fender has some very fine crazing on it. Please see the photos.

I am 6'2" and 295 lbs and I fit in along with the wife.

We are selling as we have other projects to build.

Up for sale is my 91 Dodge W250 4x4 diesel, Auto O/D, Dana 60 frt, Dana 70 limited slip rear, I am the 2nd owner, it's been in the Barstow area its whole life, runs good, no rust, yes it has the issues from the 90's, paint flaking off, interior plastic is brittle, has about 220,000 miles, drove to work 2 or 3 days a week, i retired and I havent used it, letting it go, $20,000 OBO
