The Mendeola was inspected by McDowell Performance in 2022 and he said it "looks like brand new inside." I always use the clutch when shifting.

I am a 55-year-old engineer and do essentially all of my own mechanical work. I completely rebuilt/refreshed the buggy in 2022 because I do not trust most mechanics to do things correctly.

Work completed in 2022 included:

All shocks rebuilt
Hubs rebuilt
Brake calipers rebuilt
New CVs and boots
New Centerforce clutch and pressure plate
New Wilwood pedals and master cylinders

The LS3 was bought from a friend and came out of a stock CJ7. It had 9,000 old-man miles on it, bought and installed in 2023. along with SPAL fans.

Since finishing the rebuild, the buggy has only been used about seven weekends at the dunes and on some Wyoming dirt roads. Most of the time I drive it to car shows.

Currently plated in Colorado.

It is not the prettiest buggy around. The seat vinyl has some sun damage, some of the paint is faded and scratched, the rear engine cage needs paint, and the heims are tight but have some surface rust. Mechanically, however, it is very strong, well sorted, and extremely reliable. The components are on par with what you find in many $100,000+ buggies.

For someone who knows what a Mendeola S4D, 934 CVs, GearOne rack, hubs and brakes, and King coilovers and bypass shocks cost, there is a lot of value here.

It is simply a lot of buggy for the money.
