We have been building sand cars for close to 45 years. We specialize in LIGHT WEIGHT, powerful, long travel sand rails. If you are looking for a big heavy V8 rail that goes fine in a straight line, we are sure can find them in another listing. Our rails have a sleek design with no shock towers or boxy frames. The low center of gravity and weight afforded by a turbo charged boxer style engine results in far superior handling compared to V6 and V8 rails. This machine will be available in about 2 months once we get out on the sand and dial the shocks in. If you want to buy it now and adjust the shocks yourself, we will reduce the price according.
COMPONENTS:
- The engine is a US version 2.5 Subaru dual overhead cam WRX STI. Most out there are single cam Japanese market imports. Outfront Motorsports has made many modifications including; reduce depth oil pan, new injectors, ball bearing turbo, custom intercooler/scoop/Spal fan combo., racing fuel rails, pressure pop-offs on both intercooler and turbo, modified intake manifold, billet dipstick/oil filler, custom exhaust and polished aluminum and chrome is prevalent. The ECU is a LINK Fury X - tuned by Arcflash LLC. They are the most knowledgeable tuners we have ever dealt with. The motor puts out 320 HP to the wheels on pump gas. You can raise that 450+ HP with E85 or race gas with no other modifications than adjusting the ECU. The radiator is a large CBR dual bypass unit with oversized dual Spal fans.
- The suspension is second to none. The front is our dual A-arm unequal non-parallel design capable of up to 21 inches of travel. It allows for the inside wheel to turn a tighter radius through the corners with proper caster and camber throughout the travel. The rear HD trailing arms are capable of 20 inches of travel and designed to minimize axle plunge at the extremes of the travel. The shocks are Fox throughout with both emulsion and bypasses. They can be fined to any terrain. All the suspension arms are 1.5” .120” wall chromoly with .75” chromoly heims joints - virtually indestructible. The billet steering rack is a SACO HD unit (USA made).
- The drive train will handle whatever power you want to put through it. The 934 CVs are race prepped units from Kartek. The micro stubs are 300m (unbreakable) with billet 4 piston rear brakes (Jamar - USA made) as are the front 2 piston brakes. The axles are 300m Kartek units made in the USA. The transaxle is a Mendeola 4D with an XDC case from Transworks. This combination is similar to what is used on very high HP V8 sand cars. The shifter is a ProAm unit (USA) which is likely best shifter made.
- The seats and 5-point belts are authentic Sparco racing components. The lights are Baja Design LP6 units. The gauges are Classic Instruments Velocity units (USA) with associated warning lights. The pedals are Jamar with high-capacity reservoirs. The pedals are adjustable for someone 5’2” to 6’3”. Passenger billet foot rest and grab bar are adjustable.
- The paint is a 3-stage red metal flake powder coat. It is absolutely spectacular. The sparkles and shine are beyond compare.
- Other items included are: Both sides of the frame are dropped for easy entry, High Torque gear reduction starter, Full Throttle gel battery, 13+ gallon polished stainless fuel tank, Longhorn emergency shut off switch, billet steering wheel, braided stainless fluid lines everywhere, front brake portioning valve, Dynamat sound deadening on body panels, 3 panel wide angle billet rear view mirror, bead lock wheels, and Linex coated floor pans.
Overall length = 13’ 5.25”, Front width 87” or +/- 77” when A-arms are pulled together with rachet strap, rear width = 90” with paddles or +/- 74” with skins (stock VW tires which we have), height = +/- 60”.
Everything on this sand car is NEW except for the low mileage engine (already broken in). No heavily used or reconditioned stuff here. This machine is located in Salem, Oregon. Pickup only, unless you pay for and arrange shipping.
