PACKAGE DEAL! Get both of Mickey Thompsons 1978 racers at a fraction of their Appraisal value. Both vehicles have major historical value as they are tied to Hall Of Fame royalty in one way or another including Larry Minor, Roger Mears, Johnny Johnson and of course Mickey Thompson (MT).

Challenger III (short course racer): originally built by Smokey Allerman for Larry Minor to compete against Friend and rival Parnelli Jones in the unlimited class in 1975. The racer was sold to MT in 1977-ish and his team converted the racer into a short course racer as he already had a desert racer. The suspension was changed in the rear and body was reworked to look like his desert car (Challenger IV). This car is almost completely original including a very rare MT aluminum Chevy 350 block, aluminum heads, B&M trans, MT front shocks, Rick Hasselo built rear 2.5 coil overs, magnesium Dana 60, true suspension seat, Centerline wheels, MT Baja Belted front tires and MT Baja King rear tires. This car is currently a museum car and is not running but could easily be a runner with a little work.

Challenger IV (Desert racer): completely restored in 2014 and raced at the NORRA Mexican 1000 and a win at the 2016 MINT 400. This car was way ahead of its time with the “Truggy” style design. This car has ann A-Arm front suspension with approximately 12” travel, King shocks, Howe Saginaw steering box, 383 Chevy striker motor with approx 525hp, gearworks 2 speed powerglide trans, Mastercraft seat, pyrotect fuel cell, Sandy Cone built magnesium Dana 60, titanium front/rear bumper, skid plate and firewall. Rear shocks are 3.0 King Coilovers with two 2.5 smooth body Kings per side, Centerline wheels on MT baja Belted and Baja King tires on Halibrand knockoff hubs with Wilwood brakes. Body was hand built by ORMHOF inductee Nye Frank and the rear wing by Larry Storck. This car is a proven winner and is an attention grabber whether it’s racing or just sitting on display.

These cars are of great historical value in the off road racing world and it is time for me to pass these vehicles along for the next generation.

Spares and memorabilia included, can sell separately but a better deal for you if you buy as a package. Contact Rory Ward for more details.
