What the Operations Manager at Baja Designs will do:
The Operations Manager will plan and oversee the daily manufacturing, quality control, warehousing and fulfillment operations of the organization to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. Directs and coordinates activities of the Production and Warehouse departments in processing materials, manufacturing products, and fulfilling customer orders by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Core Responsibilities:
• Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
• Plan and organize daily activities related to production and operations including warehouse (receiving and shipping department) as well as production and component planning / procurement responsibilities.
• Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
• Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
• Directs daily / weekly production meetings, ensure subordinate supervisors attend and/or are notified.
• Set production goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and people development.
• Ensure manufacturing standards/ KPI´s are in place and used to measure performance daily.
• Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports.
• Develop strategies to increase productivity and set long term goals.
• Coordinates with other support departments such as human resources, finance, engineering, sales, marketing, customer service, and logistics to ensure successful production operations.
• Determines labor needs to meet production, planning and warehouse goals.
• Assists with budget preparation for operations unit.
• Coordinates with marketing and sales departments to determine pricing, timing, and number of sales promotions, and products to be sold.
• Assists with, or prepares and updates, to organization’s operations manual and policies.
• Drives continuous improvement and ensures operation standards reflect the operation
• Prepares operating reports and budgets and presents them to General Manager and CI Director.
• Build an efficient plant organization structure with clear R&R’s and drive performance.
• Oversee all aspects of the operation, shipping, and inventory.
• Establishes departments’ SOPs, and KPI´s.
• Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational including safety and quality, manufacturing, planning and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Oversees the development of and/or revises standard operational procedures and book of quality standards and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages exempt and non-exempt manufacturing, Warehouse, planning/ purchasing, Supervisors, Leads and indirect floor personnel in the following departments:
• Receiving
• Warehouse
• Shipping
• Logistics
• Master scheduler
• Production
• Assembly /Quality Control
• Planning
• Purchasing
• ERP Implementation
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Oversees that employees are cross trained to do and know all the other job duties in the department.
• Through progression and proven success in managing the production entity, this position is planned to oversee in the future additional office departments in finance, and purchasing.
What You Bring to the Team
• Bachelor’s degree in business management or focus related field experience required.
• Manufacturing Management experience required.
• ERP knowledge is a requirement; NetSuite Oracle is a plus.
• Understand multiple types of manufacturing processes.
• Continuous Improvement and LEAN / Six sigma required.
• Management experience over Production Supervisors, Leads and Managers.
• Assembly / warehouse and planning operations experience is a plus.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Excellent leadership, team building and management skills
• At least five to ten years of related experience required.
Pay: $120,000 per year
