1989 Chevrolet C30 that is in great shape. This is one of the cleanest square body pickups that I have run across that wasn't a full blown show truck. When this truck was built it was meant to still function as a tow rig, and not just look good. You could pull with this everyday if you needed, or just load up the family and head out for a long road trip.
I'll start out first with the powertrain of the truck. This does have the big block 454 and it will pull anything you can throw at it. This is the fuel injected version with throttle body injection. The engine is all stock with the exception of long tube headers and true dual exhaust. The exhaust was just done professionally with a true X pipe, 3 inch pipe and flowmasters, it sounds amazing. Under the hood you can hardly tell the engine is running it's so quiet. Out back the exhaust has a nice deep tone while not being too loud. There is no drone inside and it's very tame at idle and cruising, and then really wakes up when you get into it. The engine has always been regularly maintained, with some new AC Delco parts installed. It just had a tune up, along with new belts and ac compressor. The ac was retrofitted to run on R134a and had a new seals replaced in the lines, new compressor. The transmission is an automatic turbo 400. It was rebuilt about 20k miles ago by a reputable transmission shop and had a shift kit installed, also just serviced and added an extra deep pan for additional fluid capacity. The truck has been lowered 3/4 with spindles up front, shackles and hangers in the rear. Doing it this way did not alter the ride quality or suspension travel at all. Brand New Bilstein Shocks. All new Emergency brake cables. We also left the overload springs in the rear so it still has the same towing capacity as it did stock. The wheels have been upgraded to 22" Mayhem chrome wheels with 265/40R22 tires. The tires have an extra load rating and perform really well while towing. There is actually quite a bit of sidewall to these tires so the ride is not as bad as you would expect it to be. The nice thing about this setup is that it's a direct bolt on 8 lug wheel. So this means no 10 lug adapters to mess with and the stock spare tire can still be used. The new tire height is the exact same as the old wheels and tires so the speedo did not change and the spare tire is also the same. The lowering kit, wheels and tires all have less than 1000 miles on them and still look brand new. When we put the spindles up front we put all new bearings in and checked the brakes, which look almost new. To get the rear wheels to fit we had to put in longer wheel studs. This axle is a full floater so we had to remove the axles to do this. We went ahead and put new bearing and seals in the rear also since we were already there. Brand new brakes all the way around, flushed brake fluid, new pads, shoes, wheel cylinders and lines. Front end was just aligned, drives straight. Mechanically the truck is sound and doesn't need anything.
The exterior looks just as good in person as it does in the pictures. The truck underwent a frame on restoration almost 3 years ago and still looks just as good today as it did then. This was a professional paint job and was done correctly. All the old paint was stripped off down to bare metal. Epoxy primer and basecoat/clearcoat was then sprayed on. The paint job looks very good and was wet sanded and buffed until all the orange peel was gone. It's very solid with no rust anywhere. It has all the factory spot welds on the rockers, and the original seam sealer on the inside of the doors to prove it. The rear dually fenders were just modified to fit the new wheels and tires. They were professionally widened 2 ½" and look fantastic. We have a special way of doing these where we were able to retain the stock look and shape. Most people are not aware that they are widened but I believe it gives the truck a much more proportional look. The fenders were then painted and buffed to match the rest of the truck. All of the lighting, bumpers, and grill were replaced when it was painted and are still in excellent shape. The windows were just tinted 35% on all 4 side windows which gives it a nice classy look while not being too dark. The rear window is an aftermarket sliding unit that works great, this is limo tinted. The windshield is clean and was just tinted with expenive ceramic tint. There is also a roll up bed cover that has been installed. On the inside there is a bed mat, and underneath the bed was just professionally lined less than 5 months ago. The hood and front fenders have a clear bra installed. A new lower front spoiler/valance was just installed.
The interior is very clean as well. I'm usually not a very big fan of red interiors but this one I am in love with. It's a perfect contrast with the black and chrome. Everything inside is in good shape with very minimal wear. Carpet is brand new. The dash pad has been replaced since it had a crack in it from the sun, but other than that the rest is factory. It does have every option I believe you could get for these trucks back in the day. It has power locks, power windows, tilt, cruise, ac and intermittent wipers. It also has the dual fuel tanks with the switch on the dash. These works great and come in very useful when on a long trip. The factory radio has been replaced with a newer unit that has radio, cd, and aux. Pro comp gauges installed.
