1964 Buggy – CA Street Legal! Located in North County, San Diego. Registered as a 1964 VW Bug. Registration current through May 2019
New 2276cc motor. Clean California title.
Howe power steering can be connected/disconnected at the steering rack. I have it disconnected for driving on highways and paved roads. It’s easy and awesome to hook up the power steering when off-road.
I’ve owned the buggy since March 2016. Since then, I’ve done the following work:
Engine rebuild 2276cc (94x82mm) by B&R Buggy in Oceanside. I still take the buggy there for service.
Replaced shifter coupling bushings, New BFG and Yokohama Traction Tires from ORW (April 2016) Balanced, no inner tubes. Receipts included.
July 2017 Rebuild and adjust carb, valve cover gaskets, oil & filter, spark plugs, air filter.
Also, throttle linkage cam and throttle cable and shield. The old round lights were replaced with LEDs front and back. All wired with Delco Weathertech connectors. The old round lights come with the sale. Large tachometer and digital temperature gauges were added, and the clutch slave cylinder was replaced.
Buggy has lots of soft storage and custom sheet metal work. Bus (091) transaxle, 3X3 over trailing arms, coilover frontend, beedlock wheels, rack & pinion power steering, beed lock wheels, electronic ignition, alternator, fuel cell, Optima battery, disk brakes, Crowe 5-point harnesses, race seats, VDO gauges, GPS speedometer, quick disconnect steering wheel, turn signals, license plate light, brake lights, switch-operated oil cooler fan (the digital temp gauge has a trigger wire that can trip a fan relay, so the fan comes on automatically when the temp gets hot. I haven’t hooked this up yet. Should run 91 Octane only. No windshield wipers, parking brake or odometer. Comes with a tow bar so you can tow the buggy behind a truck. This buggy is super-light and really fun on or off road. I drive it around San Diego almost every weekend. Runs about 3k RPM @ 65mph. But, I’m moving and can’t take with me.
