1968 VW Baja Bug. Ca. Licensed. Full tube chassis 1.75” x .095” DOM chassis. 106” Wheel base. The car has been mechanically gone through 100%, and has about 300 miles. This car has been a project I’ve built over the last couple years but a move forces me to sell. The DOM tube chassis is all new construction 2021. The electrical system is new, MD4E Mendeola Transaxle with a Deco case rebuilt in 2019 have receipts. New 33x10.5 BFG KO2 tires on bead-locks. The front of the car:
6” over Chromoly beam, new bushings, Foddrill Motorsports King Kong Combo spindles, 7/8’s link pins with new bushings. Jamar disk brakes, Saco steering rack, Power steering, Fox 2.0 10” coilover shocks with remote reservoir, Spare tire under hood, new bearings, bushings, seals on everything.
The rear of the car:
New 3x3 rear trailing arms, new 300m axles, 930 Chromoly polished CV joints & bolts all from Kartec. Fully rebuilt Mendeola MD4E transaxle with receipts, less than 300 miles. Honda J35A4 engine with approximately 100,000. The engine & wiring harness were packaged by a factory Honda mechanic using an OEM harness with only its necessary components. It’s NOT a hacked-up wiring job with cut un-used wires left in the harness The engine harness quality will not disappoint. New radiator with two XX inch fans. UMP air filter. Fox 2.0 14” shocks with remote reservoir, disk brakes.
New gauges, Jamar Performance shifter w/ reverse lock-out. Parker pumper helmet air, Rugged radios 25w radio with intercom. The system is setup for helmets currently, but comes with headsets as well. 15 gal Jazz fuel cell, CNC pedals, Lowrance Elite T2 GPS. Heated seats, 5-piont seat belts. Both seats are on adjustable sliders, removable steering wheel. The next update I would work on for the interior is the dash. The current dash is what I purchased the car with. I was planning to do a new lay-out and re-arrange the gauge cluster, intercom, and switches but didn’t get to it. Exterior:
This was an older vintage Baja bug build when I bought it, it shows its age on the outside from previous builds. The body has some damage on the left rear quarter panel, there are some extra holes in the body from the previous roll cage. It’s nothing that couldn’t be repaired with a little metal work. The paint is nothing to brag about. However, the full tube chassis, mechanics, electronics, suspension, drivetrain, are all new or rebuilt. The car has about 300 testing miles since being completely rebuilt. I’ve had the body off the vehicle while building it. With tons of pics. The floor pans are solid, no rust and are still intact and in good shape. The powder coated light rack has 5 functioning Hella HID lights.
As I said a move forces me to sell. The car is currently registered. The car has been inspected by CHP and is registered as a 1968 Volkswagen. (Not special construction). This would be a great car for someone to continue building to improve on what’s here with body / paint, or just run around a little ruff on the outside. It’s a very easy car to work on for the DIY person, or someone who enjoys playing with big toys. The only VW left in the car is the body and pan. The floor pan has no rust or damage. Comes with spare parts kit, fuel pump, hoses, belt, CV’s, axles, stub axles, bearings, wheel studs, spare tire.
